Insuring Your Motorcycle

Hawaii is a great place to own a motorcycle. Our state has beautiful weather practically year round and with the high price of gas it isn't always prudent to drive a car much less a truck or SUV. For those reasonsit can make much more sense to drive a motorcycle in our state. The biggest drawback to driving a motorcycle as opposed to a car however is safety. For this reason it is very important to have insurance as a motorcyle owner. Here are a few things to consider when shoppping around for motorcycle coverage.

Just like car insurance there are many factors that go into calcuting a motorcycle insurance quote. Insurance agents take into account your age and driving record record among other things. If your record is stellar then you can generally get insurance coverage for much less than you would car insurance. The key, much like shopping for any other type of insurance coverage, is to do your homework.

In Hawaii there are plenty of insurance agencies to choose from so which one is best for you? Start by asking a friend where they get their insurance from. If they don't know anyone who has that type of coverage then try typing "motorcycle insurance" into a search engine. You'll usually find 3-4 good leads and from there you can study their websites to get an idea of whether they would be a good fit for you.

Typically the larger insurance agencies can give better pricing due to their ability to scale their business so keep that in mind when shopping around for quotes. Also many agencies offer incentives for getting a quote from them such as a free gas card. It doesn't hurt to get a quote if it will get you free gas to fill up your motorcycle!
